Company sets capacity milestone from Kurdish field despite revenue loss.
OSLO, Norway, May 6 (UPI) -- Though it reached its capacity target at an oil field in the Kurdish north of Iraq, Norwegian energy company DNO said Wednesday it suffered heavy losses. DNO said it hit a daily production record at the Tawke field of just over 150,000 barrels of oil, adding it had the installed capacity to hit the 200,000 bpd mark.

Stratfor: Compass Preview: Oil Exploration in the Arctic
(Video)
The big news coming out is that Shell is about to resume exploratory operations up in some Arctic waters between Russia and Alaska. And that they are going to such extreme ends of the Earth, you have to think that they think it's worth their while.
Matt: So one of the things that is being worked on now by Aker solutions is a drill ship that would, that is designed to kind of push away the broken ice away from the vessel itself. If ice actually comes under the ship and starts to affect the actual drilling operations, that becomes a much bigger challenge to deal with. So that is one potential solution that could have a pretty big impact on drilling in icy environments for example.
Sputnik News: Russia to Benefit From Lion's Share of Arctic Shelf Oil and Gas by 2030
According to a report from the World Petroleum Council, between now and 2030, Russia's share of the oil and gas extracted from the Arctic shelf will be 55 percent, followed by Norway, Canada and the USA.
Between now and 2030, Russia will account for 55 percent of all oil and gas extracted from the Arctic shelf, increasing production 3.6 times to 2.2 million barrels per day [BPD], according to a report produced this week by the World Petroleum Council [WPC].
World leaders, including Russia’s Vladimir Putin, have talked of the Arctic as a zone of peace and co-operation. But continued tranquility is just one forecast for the region. A much darker scenario came today from a Canadian policy scholar who is also a professor at the University of Toronto and Russia’s Academy of National Economy and Public Administration
Turkmenistan one step closer to Trans-Caspian pipeline
Turkmenistan is one step closer to the implementation of the long-awaited Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, widely regarded as the optimal option to deliver Turkmen blue fuel under the Caspian through Azerbaijan to European consumers.
The project comes closer to being realized after the parliaments of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan ratified a bilateral agreement on the division of the Caspian Sea between the two Central Asian countries.
The construction of the 300 kilometer-long Trans-Caspian Pipeline is of strategic interest to the EU, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Europe seeks to decrease its dependence on Russian gas, while Turkmenistan aims to diversify its gas supply routes, as well as create an additional guarantee for the reliable and stable export of energy resources to international markets. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan is interested in the huge benefits of transporting Turkmen gas via its territory.
Russia pulled off a stellar geopolitical performance at its annual end-June international business conference in St. Petersburg, showcasing several major energy deals just before Europe extended sanctions for a half year due to the failure of the peace process in eastern Ukraine. Among the deals was a tentative agreement to build another natural gas pipeline directly to Germany -- possibly triggering no less than a minor revolution in European energy supplies in that it essentially pits northern Europeans against their southern colleagues. Moscow, fearing a protracted tussle over the Turk Stream pipeline project, has deftly spread its risks, and as a consequence the energy configuration in Europe just got even more complicated. What's more, the prospect of a new northern pipeline could push Turkey to move faster on its southern route.

China’s new energy aim: to become a transit country for gas?
An influential Chinese government think-tank has proposed that the country should become a gas transit corridor between Russia and Central Asia on the one hand and north-east Asian countries such as Japan and Korea on the other. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) suggested this week that Tangshan, a deep-water port east of Beijing, should be developed as a hub for gas trading in north-east Asia. The think-tank noted that it was closer to the two main players in Asian LNG, Japan and Korea, than was Shanghai, which also has ambitions to be a gas trading hub.
News Analysis: Construction progress of China-Russia East-Route gas project strengthens energy ties
BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Construction of the Chinese section of the China-Russia East-Route Natural Gas Pipeline began on Monday, further boosting energy cooperation between the two countries, analysts said.
The Chinese section of the 3,968-kilometer east-route natural gas pipeline originates in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and terminates in Shanghai in the east.
It is the largest China-Russia cooperation project and is conducive to diversifying both countries' energy strategy and guaranteeing energy security, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli said at the construction commencement ceremony.
Myndighetene i landet kom under sterkt press og valgte i september 2013 å stenge ned landets to siste atomreaktorer.
Russia. The Yamal LNG project is based in the estuary of the Ob River which is ice-bound nine months of the year. The project ensures production and marketing of the Russian Arctic’s vast natural gas reserves and has involved the construction of a major new maritime route for transporting liquefied natural gas to Europe and Asia.
The Yamal LNG project is one of the largest industrial undertakings in the Arctic. It will eventually involve the drilling of more than 200 wells, the construction of 3 LNG trains, each with a capacity of 5.5 million tons per year, and a vast gas terminal, and the commissioning (a world first) of 16 icebreaker tankers, each able to transport 170,000 m³.
This ground-breaking project in the Yamal peninsula, to develop the huge South Tambey condensate gas field, calls on Yamal LNG’s logistical and industrial expertise in terms of managing LNG production in extremely cold conditions with the help of high-performance technologies. Total is leading the project as part of a strategic alliance with Novatek, Russia’s second-largest independent natural gas producer.
The investigation released a statement claiming that the snowplow driver, Vladimir Martynenko, had been intoxicated. The plane crash at Vnukovo occurred when the wing of the private Falcon 50 jet collided with the snowplow, which, according to the media “was sitting at the intersection of two runways, in a no-access area.” Sources from various media outlets familiar with the details of the crash reported: “The captain of the aircraft decided to go ahead and try to complete his takeoff. But he did not have enough speed. The front wheel of the business jet’s chassis clipped the snowplow, which led to the catastrophe.”
But, according to information from the lawyers and the airport service bureau, the driver, Mr. Martynenko, was very experienced, with a long work history, and was completely sober. He had also passed the usual, mandatory medical inspection before he began his shift, which was documented by the doctor in his journal, and on the basis of which he received his driving log from the mechanic and then began his shift.
I make no claims that there is any direct evidence at present supporting the theory that a premeditated murder of Christophe de Margerie was committed for the benefit of the United States. And none of this even adds up to a coherent theory – it’s just a string of uncontested events and facts that fit together in a completely logical sequence that neatly eliminates the patchwork of all those supposedly random coincidences.
as the assassination of Total CEOChristophe de Margerie proves beyond all doubt the horrific lengths the US willgo to in order to protect its rapidly deteriorating economy.
It appears Russian authorities decided to admit their fault even before the investigation and assign the blame internally due to the delicate political situation and in order to keep peace.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved Novatek’s application for state support to Yamal LNGdevelopments. In a decree signed 27 December, the premier allocates 150 billion roubles (€2,1 billion) from the National Wealth Fund to the project.
“Projects that are being implemented in Yamal and in Murmansk Oblast are of strategic importance for the country,” Kovtun said. “They are the concrete content of the Strategy for development of Russia’s Arctic zone,” she said at pointed out that after 2020 oil and gas from fields that have spent their resources will be displaced by hydrocarbons from the Arctic.
The stake sale could help Novatek to line up projectfinancing from Chinese banks after sanctions over Russia'sactions in Ukraine shut access for Russian companies to Westerncapital markets, Kommersant said.
It’s not that there haven’t been any important economic breakthroughs this summer. First of all, the recently announced sale of Novatek’s share of the giant Yamal LNG project to a Chinese firm for approximately $900 million is a significant deal given that Novatek’s principal owner, Gennady Timchenko, was one of the first Russians to be hit by U.S. sanctions, making it difficult for him to continue working on Yamal.
ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan has begun work on an ambitious 1,800-kilometre-long (1,118 miles) pipeline carrying gas from the former Soviet state to energy-hungry India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, state media reported on Friday.
“Specialists of the Institute of Oil and Gas in the ‘Turkmengaz’ state corporation have started engineering and surveying work on the route for the future gas pipeline Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI),” state newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reported, adding that the construction of the pipeline itself would begin in December.
Survey Work Of Turkmenistan-India Gas Pipeline Project Begins
Nearly two months after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan has begun the engineering and survey work for a 1,800km-long pipeline that will supply gas to the energy-hungry South Asian nation.
US interested in strengthening business relations with Turkmenistan Particular attention during the meeting was paid to development of cooperation in the power industry and financial sector.
Gazprom not changing stance on ‘Turkish Stream’ (exclusive)
Russian company Gazprom still retains interest in the ‘Turkish Stream’ project, involving the construction of a gas pipeline, which is projected to run from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea and have a pumping capacity of 63 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Gazprom exclusively told Trend Sept. 7 that the launch of work on the ‘Nord Stream-2’ doesn’t change the company’s stance regarding the ‘Turkish Stream’ project.
“And everything will depend on what demand is put forward by Europe,” Medvedev further said.
After years of talking the talk of reducing reliance on Russian energy, why is Europe now seemingly poised to cement its dependence with a huge new pipeline across the Baltic?
Despite also eschewing nuclear power, Sweden is on track for becoming a nation powered by sustainable, renewable energy sources alone by the next half-century, which is a remarkable feat
CEO forventer lav oljepris i lengre tid.

In a direct video link between the Komi Republic and the Moscow Kremlin, Gazprom President Aleksey Miller gives the President a vision of Russia’s latest mega gas project.
By year 2019, an additional 45 billion cubic meters of gas per year can be sent from Russia’s Arctic Yamal Peninsula to consumers in the EU.
- Det er et stort marked for vekst innen havvind, sa konserndirektør for Nye energiløsninger i Statoil, Irene Rummelhoff under dagens pressekonferanse.
Statoil vil nå investere to milliarder kroner for å bygge testparken Hywind utenfor Skottland.

AMS-målere og dermed mulighet for variasjon time for time strømpris er dermed vesentlig i markedet.
