We are establishing command teams (one officer in command, supported by one senior enlisted leader) from platoon level to CHOD in the Norwegian armed forces. This is new and alien to many, and in order to clarify/get a better understanding of roles, responsibilities and authority b...

When implementing command teams consisting of the commanding officer, from platoon upwards, and his senior NCO, how do you think the workload should be divided between these to in order to make the team most efficient and effective?

Is there one position within the NCO corps, like platoon sergeant, drill instructor or regimental sergeant major, that can be said to be the single most important, and what measures should be taken to ensure that the best and most talented NCOs are recruited to these positions?

Command teams are important, but the majority of NCOs will be specialists within their fields, whether technical, administrative or operational. How should these best be recruited, what criterias for promotion should apply, and what is the best way to retain them?
